If you’ve got a unit that survives daily disinfecting and the occasional drop, how’s the accuracy drift over a season and what’s your recal interval?
Do you need headroom to 1 kN for rainy ops? We’ve had good luck with a Mark-10 Series 5 (500 N) in peak hold; drift stays about 0.5% over a season, we spot-check weekly with a 10 kg M1 and send it out every 6 months. My one hard rule after soaking a load cell once: ‘don’t spray — wipe’ with 70% IPA and keep the rubber boot.
Quick datapoint: we moved to a cabled button load cell with a 3D-printed puck and a handheld indicator (e.g., Mark-10 indicator + remote sensor: https://www.mark-10.com/force-gauges/), which shrugs off wipes and drops and has held about ±0.2% FS over a season with annual cal; we spot-check at 150 N and 400 N using deadweights. @jacobf87’s rain note is fair, but unless you truly push past 500 N in wet ops I’d keep the 500 N cell for resolution and enable peak-hold with auto-save so ops don’t play ‘guess the max’ each lap bar.
