We need to get back into the habit of reviewing our emergency response procedures regularly. I noticed during last week’s drills that some of the newer team members weren’t fully aware of evacuation routes and protocols. Let’s schedule a refresher session this month to ensure everyone knows what to do in case of an emergency. Safety is our top priority.
I’ve found it really effective to conduct walk-throughs of the routes in smaller groups, especially with the newer team members. It helps them visualize the protocols and ask questions in a relaxed environment. As you said, it’s vital everyone ‘knows what to do in case of an emergency.’ Maybe we could break it down into role-playing scenarios too?
I remember when we did a walk-through before a big event; it made a huge difference for everyone. Maybe try incorporating some hands-on scenarios this time? @TeamSafety has some great resources on this.
It’s so true that practice helps, especially for new staff; in our last drill, I noticed the simpler we kept the explanations, the clearer everyone was on what to do… A hands-on approach really does stick better — maybe @TeamSafety could lead a fun simulation next time?
