We replaced 30 old PAR64s on Main Plaza with 200W 3000K ellipsoidals (CRI 90) and cut about 24 kW while improving beam control, but I’m still fighting phone-camera flare — top hats help; any fixture/model recs or aiming tricks to keep faces bright without nuking the audience sightline?
I’d add a donut and deep snoot (or eggcrate) to each ellipsoidal and re-aim so your key hits at about 30–35° off audience sightline; that combo knocks down the ‘phone-camera flare’ while keeping faces crisp. Then drop front levels about 10% and sneak in a soft cross‑sidelight fill so you’re not forcing the camera to look into hot keys — little sunglasses for the lekos. What beam angles and lens tubes are you on?
